Room and Audio Visual Set-up

Room set-up is an important part of any presentation. Improper room set-up can detract from even the best presentation. Our goal is to help you make your event a success, so we have provided the following suggestions. Please review the following guidelines and contact us if you encounter any challenges. Chris is flexible and will work with you to help make your event a success.

Equipment:

Microphone: Wireless lavaliere, lapel (preferred) or hand-held mic

CD player

Overhead projector and screen.

AV control center and technician in the back of the room.

Staging:

Position the first row about six feet from the stage.

Chairs only is the preferred seating, if possible. (i.e., chairs without tables, and chairs that can be moved as opposed to fixed seating such as benches, pews, or a row of chairs that are connected to each other.) This is because Chris' classes are highly audience-interactive and chairs can easily be moved and arranged in a variety of ways to support different small group exercises.

The optimal way to arrange the chairs is classroom or theater style with two side aisles and no center isle (i.e., chairs are together in a long row with an aisle on each side of the row, rather than in two shorter rows separated by a center aisle). The idea is to avoid having the speaker talk to an empty aisle. If your facility has fixed seating, please rope off sections that will not be needed to encourage people to sit together in the main seating area. For example, rope off side sections. Or, if the facility has two seating sections with a center aisle, rope off one of the two sections.

If there is a stage, it should be positioned front-and-center of the room with steps coming down from the front. As a note, Chris will do most of her speaking on the floor, to be closer to the audience; she rarely speaks behind a podium.

Bar stool or tall chair front-and-center

One table front-and-center, preferably draped with flowers

One table at the back near the door, preferably draped

Room Environment:

Temperature: Too warm, and the audience becomes drowsy. Too cold, and they become distracted. 70 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.

Lighting: If videotaping, please use maximum lighting.

Recording of presentation:

All material is copyright protected. Audio and/or video recording is permitted and encouraged. We are honored when event organizers want to record Chris' presentations. Because we are dealing with intellectual property, a separate recording agreement must be signed prior to the event. Thank you for understanding the need for this.
