Spiritual relationship help & Believe Lonnie Johnson’s dream was born in his bathroom. Johnson liked to tinker. As a child, he built a robot and won the state science fair. Johnson wanted to become an engineer; some people advised him to become a technician instead. But he focused on his goals and pursued his dream. He received his master’s degree in nuclear engineering and began work as an engineer at NASA. In his free time, he tinkered. Johnson experimented with a nozzle in his bathroom and noticed the curtains sway. The stream of water from the nozzle created a forceful turbulence and air currents. He dreamed about a great water gun and later developed the Super Soaker. Today, over two hundred and fifty million Super Soakers have been sold.[i] Nestled in the vast wilderness of Arizona, is a small Indian village. It sits among sheer red rock walls near the banks of blue-green waterfalls. Access to the village is either on foot or by mule. The route is impassible by automobile. Mules deliver supplies and mail. My family and I stumbled upon the village after hiking on foot for eight miles on a backpacking trip one summer. The residents did not have cars, televisions, or phones. But in the isolation of the quaint, picturesque village, two young Indian boys played with Super Soakers! All because Johnson believed in his dream. Belief is the cornerstone of realized dreams. For people who live their dreams, problems and shortcomings are challenges, not excuses for quitting. Believing includes surrendering by accepting God’s will, having the faith to pursue the divine plan for your life, and trusting that God will be with you as you do. God-confidence creates self-confidence. If you pursue your calling, and if it is God’s plan for you, it will happen. It does not mean winning the Tour de France or selling 250 million Super Soakers. It means living the life you were created to live. With perseverance and by putting your hand in God’s, you will experience contentment as your dreams come true.
