Spiritual relationship help & Self-Love To love yourself is Biblical. The Golden Rule and the Great Commandment to “love your neighbor as yourself” are based on the assumption you love yourself. Self-love is not to be confused with being self-centered. Self-love leads to selflessness and self-sacrifice. Self-love does not mean “me first;” it means “me too.” Self-love does not mean you neglect your family and friends to get what you want. It means you do not neglect yourself in the process of loving others. It is not a prideful arrogance. Humility increases as self-love grows. Self-love develops out of a reverence for God’s creation and by understanding you are valuable to your Creator, despite your flaws.
