Spiritual relationship help & Self-Love What keeps us from surrender Fear keeps us from surrendering. When we are afraid, we fight. We strive to prove our worth. We struggle for security. We seek control. When we surrender, we stop wasting our energy. We stop trying to control people and circumstances over which we have no power anyway. We acknowledge the pain instead of engaging in unhealthy behavior. We listen and understand rather than defend or attack. Surrender does not mean you avoid personal responsibility, give up, stay in bed all day, or become a doormat. Nor does it mean you allow another person to control you. Establish limits and resolve conflicts, but in love. The truth is God is in control. Surrender happens, not by trying harder, but by understanding and resting in this truth. Surrender is not easy, but it is key to letting go of fear. You may reprint this article provided it includes the following paragraph, including contact information: Copyright © 2003 by Christine N.
