Spiritual relationship help & Self-love The little known secret that keeps you from self-love. What keeps us from loving ourselves and from being securely anchored? Unmet expectations. Insisting things happen our way instead of trusting in God’s plan. Not accepting God’s love and grace. Separating ourselves from God. Trusting is difficult. One of the reasons trusting is difficult is that often we do not understand why things happen, why the storms hit. Who can explain suffering and heartache? Trust means we are willing to place our problems in God’s hands and surrender our fears in faith. When we trust that which is greater than us, God is our anchor. This allows us to move into a more loving way of behaving. We believe the Psalm, “[God] will give you the desires of your heart.”[3] Trusting is key for moving from darkness into the light.
