Self-love

Do you know who loves you unconditionally?

Feelings of low self-worth happen when we fail to acknowledge that everything comes from God. Loving God involves loving everything God has created, including you. Self-love is not an emotional attachment to personal worth. It is reverence for that which God has created.

Loving yourself is a faith issue. If you believe in God as the Creator, present in the miracle of birth, your value is an inherent part of creation. To deny this is to deny the value of God’s creation.

The question, then, is do you believe in God as the creator? If so, do you acknowledge the value of His creation?

If someone tells me, “God loves you,” who is doing the loving? God, not me. If I am already struggling to love myself, it can be difficult to comprehend I am the recipient of this love.

But answering the question “do you love God’s creation?” calls for an active response, a choice, on my part. I am the one being called to choose love.

We seek love but we ignore the Greatest Love of all.

The sacred landscape is too overwhelming, too grand, and too incomprehensible. It is difficult to appreciate the magnificence of something so vast we can never fully understand it. The closest thing we can liken divine love to is parents’ love for their children. Parents love their children just because they were born. No matter what their children do and what mistakes they make, parents’ love is steadfast.

You are loveable, not because of your accomplishments, but because of your Creator.

God loves you unconditionally. God breathed life into you. Among the splendor of the universe, God invested in you. God chooses you.

Do you love God’s creation?
