Become a vessel of grace

One of the best parts about the graceful life is realizing I am far from perfect, but God loves me anyway. Who am I to not extend the same privilege of imperfection to others? When I become a vessel for grace, I allow the gift of unmerited favor and forgiveness I receive to flow through me to others.

Other people have their own issues with which they are struggling. The less a person loves himself, the less love he will be able to offer you. How eloquently the New Testament teaches us to give grace anyway: “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”[i]

Do you see the word? Harmony. God wants us to “live in harmony.”

We cannot experience peace by willpower alone, no matter how hard we try. We are made to seek God. Only by staying in relationship with Him and becoming a vessel of grace do we have any hope for living in harmony and accepting people as they are.
